Hummelstown Rolls Out New Tourism Campaign to Promote Its Business Community, Historic Downtown, Excellent School District And A Fun Destination

Hummelstown Borough is rolling out a new tourism campaign complete with many familiar faces from across Central Pennsylvania, including all three of Dauphin County’s Commissioners and an array of popular local destinations, thanks to a recent County tourism grant in May 2023.

“Hummelstown is thankful for the support and assistance from Dauphin County and many others in showcasing our beautiful town and all it has to offer. We have fun year-round events and great businesses, fabulous restaurants, a trendy brewery, and shops that our residents and visitors enjoy. Many tourists come to the region to visit Harrisburg or Hershey and stop by Hummelstown while vacationing because it’s an easy walk around town and offers that small-town feel,” said Mayor David Roeting.

“Hummelstown is a great example of a charming small town in Dauphin County focused on driving its own economy. They are working hard to promote themselves and attract both visitors and new residents alike, while investing in family fun and weekend events to entertain all ages,” Dauphin County Commissioners Chairman Mike Pries said.

Hummelstown, with its busy downtown and charming atmosphere, is located in Dauphin County, approximately nine miles east of Harrisburg (the state capital) and approximately three miles from the U.S. chocolate capital of Hershey. It’s home to over 4,000 residents and growing.

Borough Council Member Dee VanGavree said, “Hummelstown is truly a hidden gem nestled right between our State Capitol building and Hershey! We offer cozy restaurants and taverns as well as unique shopping throughout town. Plus, we encourage everyone to visit us on a 2nd Friday to Eat, Shop and Stroll, all year long! This campaign is a perfect example of the county’s tourism dollars at work and showcases the heart of our delightful town.”

Many communities like Hummelstown are investing in post-pandemic initiatives to attract businesses, potential new residents, visitors and tourism dollars to support their economies. Last year, then Acting Secretary Neil Weaver from the PA Department of Community and Economic Development (DCED) visited to shine a light on Hummelstown’s outstanding efforts.
